KEY INGREDIENTS

Effidex
containing Betamethasone Dipropionate with Propylene glycol.

DESCRIPTION

Betamethasone
is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. It is a strong corticosteroid. This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as, itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body) and eczema (a skin disease that causes the skin to be dry and itchy and to sometimes develop red, scaly rashes.)
Propylene glycol works in skin care products as both a humectant and a conditioner. Basically, it helps you achieve two things you really want for your skin: Hydration and smoothness. It can be an especially helpful ingredient if you're constantly battling dryness, flaking, or gnarly rough texture.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.

PRECAUTIONS

Special warnings and precautions for use
  • Long-term continuous topical therapy with EFFIDEX should be avoided.
  • Due to the content of corticosteroid, EFFIDEX should be used with care near the eyes. Avoid getting EFFIDEX into the eyes.
  • Due to the content of corticosteroid having immunosuppressant effect, EFFIDEX may be associated with increased susceptibility to infection, aggravation of existing infection, and activation of latent infection. It is advised to switch to systemic treatment if infection cannot be controlled with topical treatment.
  • Due to the content of betamethasone Dipropionate, prolonged topical use of EFFIDEX may cause skin atrophy.
  • Instruct patients not to smoke or go near naked flames - risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings etc.) that has been in contact with this product burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard.

APPLICATION

Apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub it gently into the skin.
Generally this medicine is used twice daily.
